Australian Burl
Latin: Eucalyptus spp. Origin: Southeastern Australia
Australian burls, or different variations of Eucalyptus burls, can come in a wide variety of species. Species such as Brown Mallee, Red Mallee, Red Coolibah, and are among the common burls regularly harvested in Southeastern Australia. Because the burl can be removed from the tree without harming the tree, this is a popular and sustainable source of wood for woodworkers.
The grain pattern and amount of figure will vary from piece to piece, but all are beautiful and unique. These burls come to us marked with a "green weight", which is how we purchase them and also the number we use to sell to our customers. Please be aware that as the wood dries the weight may be a little less when you receive it.
Price for Caps, Vessels, Clock Slices and Slabs are per KG; the smallest burls are approximately 3kg and 5-6″ diameter. Medium sized burls are 5-10 kg and 8-12″ diameter and larger burls are 10-20kg and 15-20″ diameter. You cannot purchase anything less than 3kg due to it being the smallest size we have. We pull pieces as close to the weight as possible, and you may recieve multiple pieces in order to total the requested weight. Please leave comments if you are looking for a specific size!
Please enter in weight of burl you are looking for and we will do our best to get as close to it as possible.
