Katalox

Latin: Swartzia spp. Origin: Southern Mexico through Northern South America

Katalox is one of the strongest and stiffest woods in the world. The natural oils can make it difficult to glue but it turns very well and polishes to a high sheen. The deep plum to almost black color make it an alternative for ebony for small inlays and other accent pieces. 

It is available in turning squares and also lumber, we also carry Curly Katalox lumber.
