Yucatan Rosewood
Latin: Dalbergia tucurensis Origin: Central and South America
Yucatan Rosewood is a very popular species of wood due to the lower cost and workability. It is lower in density and has less oils than other Rosewood (Dalbergia) species. The light brown to cinnamon or russet brown coloring and contrasting pale yellow sap make it a beautiful wood for turning, furniture and musical instruments.
As a Dalbergia species, Yucatan Rosewood has also been placed on the CITES appendix II listing restricting imports of all Rosewoods. We do still have inventory that was imported pre-CITES listing but get some for yourself before it is gone!
